The World Cup, as seen by… F1 Driver David Coulthard
Formula One driver, David Coulthard has been taking the time to follow the World Cup, despite a very busy test-driving schedule with the McLaren team.
The Scotsman had, of course, been following the progress of his national team: “It was sad for SCOTLAND, but it just wasn’t possible…”
Following SCOTLAND’s elimination, the driving ace was also quite keen on ENGLAND’s progress: “I was at a sponsor’s dinner in London, which had been organised for motoring journalists, but it turned into a World Cup dinner, because it coincided with the last ENGLAND match against ARGENTINA on 30 June, and everyone followed the match on the edge of their seats.”
Now ENGLAND and SCOTLAND are out of the running, Coulthard says he is still following the action from his hotel room: “I can’t say who I think will win. At this level in the game, the results are so close it often comes down to luck. I really admire all great sportsmen, which is why I appreciate watching football. I also follow the tennis quite closely.”
“Unfortunately, I just haven’t been able to get to see a match. I haven’t had the time…”, signed Coulthard, as he rushed off to yet another gruelling testing session with McLaren F1, resolute in keeping their grip on this year’s Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championships.
