Czechs take third place

RIYADH, Dec 21 (AFP) -Euro 96 runners-up the Czech Republic beat Uruguay 1-0 on Sunday in the third-place match in the Confederations Cup.

Substitute Edvard Lasota scored the only goal of the match in the 62nd minute — just four minutes after coming on as a substitute for Radek Bejbl.

Brazil were to face Australia in the final of the eight-nation tournament on Sunday evening.
