FRANCE 98 – Communique Template

Yesterday, the French Organising Committee announced that all the tickets for 2 of the 55 matches had been sold : the Netherlands-Belgium match played on 13 June at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, and the round of sixteen match played on 27 June at the Parc des Princes in Paris (1A – 2B).

Today, 5 other matches have been sold out :

  • Germany/United States (n° 14), Monday 15 June, at 9 p.m., at Parc des Princes, in Paris
  • Germany/Yugoslavia (n° 29), Sunday 21 June, at 2.30 p.m., at Stade Félix Bollaert, in Lens
  • Italy/Austria (n° 33), Tuesday 23 June, at 4 p.m., at Stade de France, in Saint-Denis
  • United States/Yugoslavia (n° 44), Thursday 25 June, at 9 p.m., at Stade de la Beaujoire, in Nantes
  • One round of sixteen match (n° 51), Sunday 28 June, at 9 p.m., at Stade de France, in Saint-Denis

Since the sale by telephone opened for individual tickets for first round and round of sixteen (except for the opening match) three days ago, a total of 54,000 tickets have been sold.

Friday 24 April, the France Telecom Network registered 7 million telephone calls – 2 million of them from international callers.

France 98’s telephone platform, which closed at 8 p.m. this evening, will open again tomorrow, Saturday 25 April, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (French time). The platform will also be open Sunday 26 April and the following days, at the same hours.

Don’t forget that reservations can only be made by telephone on the numbers given, according to the principle of “first come first served,” with a limit of 4 tickets per person per match, and with an overall limit of 16 tickets per person.

There are three special numbers to call if you want to make reservations:

Callers from countries in the European Economic Space (apart from France) 33 1 49 87 53 54

Payment for tickets ordered can be made by bank card, or failing this, a certified banker’s cheque (made out in French francs and which must be received by the French Organising Committee no later than 7 days after the order is made). Use of a card (card number) or a bank account is limited to a single order.
