FIFA Body

National associations affiliated to FIFA and belonging geographically to the same continent can be grouped into a confederation recognized by FIFA.

The continental confederations are the following:

• Asian Football Confederation (AFC, created in 1954);
• African Football Confederation (CAF, created in 1956);
• North-Central American and Caribbean Football Confederation (CONCACAF, created in 1961);
• South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL, created in 1966);
• Oceanian Football Confederation (OFC, created in 1966);
• Union of European Football Associations (UEFA, created in 1954).
