“The aim tomorrow is of course to continue our path through this World Cup. It will almost be like a final: the team which wins will probably qualify for the second round. The only message I have for Spanish supporters is this: hope. My players are mentally prepared for this match. I’m expecting a lot from the LENS public. The SPAIN team colours are the same as those of the Racing Club de LENS, the French club champions, and that’s got to be a good omen. So I hope that tomorrow we will bring honour to this turf and that we will win another game for the blood and golds. There will not be many changes from the team which played against PARAGUAY. My players will need to show greater aggression in order to qualify. We hope that meanwhile NIGERIA will beat PARAGUAY, but we must focus on our game against BULGARIA. Naturally, I will be informed of the result of the PARAGUAY game by radio link-up. So if we hear that NIGERIA is leading 4-0 at half-time, that could have a bearing on our game, as a draw would be enough for us to qualify.”
