Statement from MONTPELLIER on Thursday 11th June, 1998 after training at the Hotel Les Pins.
“We are not worried about tomorrow’s match. We respect BULGARIA. Our training has been relaxed but motivated, because you have to win the first match to have a chance in the competition.
My dearest wish is not just to score goals but for PARAGUAY to win tomorrow.
With regard to the comments by Hristo STOITCHKOV (n°8 BULGARIA) about our brutality on the pitch, I would like to point out on one hand that it is a free country, so he can say what he wants, on the other, we have never hurt anyone on the pitch.
I would like to remind you that I am not saying anything to the Paraguayan press until I get the OK.”
