Jurgen Klinsmann and the man he replaced as Germany captain Lothar Matthaus link up in Germany’s World Cup warm-up match against Finland here on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old Matthaus earns his 123rd cap but first for three and a half years after patching up his long-running quarrel with Klinsmann, who will be winning his 102nd cap. Klinsmann is recalled after sitting out last month’s friendly against Nigeria.

“We have four world-class strikers but I’m impressed most by Jurgen,”  said coach Berti Vogts. Oliver Bierhoff, whose 27 goals for Udinese this season won him a lucrative 12 million-dollar move to AC Milan, lines up alongside Klinsmann.

“We’ve such strength in depth that nobody can be guaranteed their place,”  man whose goals won Germany the European Championship in 1996.
