8,000 match tickets were sold on Sunday 3 may 1998, bringing the total number of tickets sold by telephone to residents of the European Economic Space to 157,000 since reservations opened on 22 April 1998

As hot-lines closed today at 8 pm, 7 further games from the 55 on offer had been sold out:

  • France/South Africa (n° 6 ), Friday 12 June at 9 pm, at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille
  • Jamaica/Croatia (n° 11 ), Sunday 14 June at 9 pm, at the Stade Félix Bollaert in Lens
  • Italy/Cameroon (n° 20), Wednesday 17 June at 9 pm, at the Stade de La Mosson in Montpellier
  • South Africa/Denmark (n° 22), Thursday 18 June at 5.30 pm, at the Municipal Stadium in Toulouse
  • The Netherlands/Republic of Korea (n° 25), Saturday 20 June at 9 pm, at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille
  • Colombia/Tunisia (n° 31), Monday 22 June at 5.30 pm, at the Stade de la Mosson in Montpellier

The FRANCE 98 hot-line will open again tomorrow Monday 4 May from 9 am to 8 pm, when the 13,000 remaining tickets will be up for grabs. These tickets are for the following 11 games (all in the first round):

  • Morocco/Norway (n° 2), Wednesday 10 June at 9 pm, at the Stade de la Mosson in Montpellier
  • Cameroon/Austria (n° 3), Thursday 11 June at 9 pm , at the Municipal Stadium in Toulouse
  • Italy/Chile (n° 4), Thursday 11 June at 5.30 pm, at the Stade Lescure in Bordeaux
  • Paraguay/Bulgaria (n° 7), Friday 12 June at 2.30 pm, at the Stade de La Mosson in Montpellier
  • Republic of Korea/Mexico (n° 9), Saturday 13 June at 5.30 pm, at the Stade Gerland in Lyon
  • Yugoslavia/Iran (n° 12), Sunday 14 June at 5.30 pm, at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard in Saint-Etienne
  • Chile/Austria (n° 19), Wednesday 17 June at 5.30 pm, at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard in Saint-Etienne
  • Spain/Paraguay (n° 24), Friday 19 June at 9 pm, at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard in Saint-Etienne
  • Spain/Bulgaria (n° 37), Wednesday 24 June at 9 pm, at the Stade Félix Bollaert in Lens

.A reminder: reservations for these tickets may be made exclusively by telephone and only on the numbers indicated below on a “first come first served” basis, with a limit of 4 tickets per person per match, and an overall limit of 16 tickets per person:

Payment for tickets ordered may be made by international bank card or, failing this, by certified bank cheque (made out in French francs and which must be received by the French Organising Committee within 7 days of placing the order). The use of a card (card number) or bank account is limited to a single order.
