Adidas unveiled its uniforms for the FRANCE 98 Volunteers on 6 April at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris. During the World Cup, the Volunteers working for Safety and Security will be identifiable by their red polo shirts and navy blue trousers, while all the other Volunteers will be dressed in green polo shirts and navy blue trousers. Each FRANCE 98 Volunteer will also receive a kit containing a T-shirt, polo shirts, a sweatshirt, waterproof jacket, cap, bermuda shorts, backpack and shoes.
The 15,300 outfits supplied by Adidas—12,000 for the Volunteers and the rest for the FRANCE 98 full- and part-time employees—have just come out of the factories, and are at present being stored in the Adidas France headquarters at Landesheim in Alsace. From there they will be sent out to the 11 World Cup venues (the 10 host cities plus the International Media Centre in Paris) at the beginning of May.
The company, one of the Official World Cup Partners, also announced the opening of the new Adidas Football Park on 6 June at the Trocadéro in Paris. For five weeks, children between 11 and 14 from 45 countries will be playing in an international 4-a-side tournament there and at the Stade Emile Antoine nearby. Other entertainments taking place in this area include stalls, video games and live broadcasts of matches. Admission to the Adidas Football Park will be free. Around 40,000 visitors are expected to turn up each day.
