FRANCE 98 sets up a central hotel reservation system
In association with MONDIRESA, the hotel and travel reservation centre, dedicated to the World Cup, the French Organising Committee is to set up a special “service plus” available to all who are seeking accommodation during the event.
“The reservation centre’s will be available to the Committee for all accommodation under our responsibility” explained Odile Lanceau, Head of FRANCE 98 Logistics, “but will also be a one-stop contact for foreign delegations, the media, partners and even the general public, in fact, anyone who is looking for suggestions and advice on their stay in France during the competition.”
MONDIRESA, set up with the support of the ACCOR Group, will be offering over 750 hotels in different categories – from one star to luxury four star – not only within the ACCOR Group but also in hotels (chain and independent) that have subscribed to the nation-wide reservation centre scheme. This subscription will involve conforming to a set of specifications designed to ensure that guests enjoy guaranteed service and price levels.
Starting next May, MONDIRESA will open its telephone service to the General Public on 33 (1) 60 91 01 01. This will be followed by the setting up of specialised structures, with specific telephone numbers, for commercial affiliates of the World Cup and for media representatives.
In June 1998, MONDIRESA, in sync with the competition programme, will expand from its base near Paris by opening a decentralised structure in the host cities. This decentralisation will enable MONDIRESA to deliver a faster and more efficient response to the demands of spectators at the 16th World Cup.
