World Cup FRANCE 98 – Press Releases
9 January 1997
The FRANCE 98 PASS: 2 in 3 already sold out!
Just six weeks after its launch to the general public in France, the FRANCE 98 PASS which offers the opportunity to attend first round and round of sixteen matches in the 16th football World Cup, is proving to be a roaring success. To date, almost two PASSES in three on offer to the general public in France and the World Cup commercial affiliates, have been snapped up: making a total of 900,000 tickets sold.
At Saint-Denis and Nantes, all FRANCE 98 PASSES in all categories are now sold out. Demand is also running high at the eight other World Cup stadiums, where certain categories are now fully reserved. At Bordeaux for example, all category 1 and 2 tickets have been sold; at Marseille, only category 1 tickets are still available; at Toulouse and in Paris, all category 3 tickets have now been sold.
The French Organising Committee has correctly anticipated the demands of future spectators by offering the possibility to pay for the FRANCE 98 PASS in six monthly installments, a method of payment chosen by more than one buyer in two.
Reservations in France can be made through the ticketing network set up by the French Organising Committee: in 2,500 Crédit Agricole branches, by Minitel 3615 FRANCE 98, by telephone on 0 803 00 1998, or by post (FRANCE 98 – BP 1998 -75201 Paris cedex 16).
As for tickets geared towards the business world (FRANCE 98 SELECTIONS), which are being marketed exclusively by the French Organising Committee, sales have already begun to season ticket holders of hospitality boxes at World Cup stadiums. As of February, these tickets will go on sale to the business community as a whole.
Ticket sales have not yet begun to the general public outside of France.
