World Cup FRANCE 98 – Press Releases
Paris, 27 May 1997
ALL FRANCE 98 PASSES NOW SOLD OUT
Six months to the day after the opening of ticket sales to the general public resident in France, the French Organising Committee has just announced that all FRANCE 98 PASSES are now sold out.
Among the ten World Cup stadiums, only a very few SAINT-ETIENNE category 1 PASSES remained unsold until today, and all other stadium PASSES had already found takers. The close of reservations at Saint-Etienne brings an end to the sales programme for FRANCE 98 PASSES which entitle the holder to attend all first round matches in the city of his/her choice, plus one round of sixteen match, a total of 5 or 6 games.
“The success of the programme shows the French publicís enormous enthusiasm for the football World Cup”, says Isabelle Delaye, Head of Ticketing at the French Organising Committee for the World Cup. “Our decision to offer this type of formula was obviously right, and the speed at which reservations were made exceeded all our expectations. After all, the opening match is still one year away.”
All those who didnít reserve their seats for the first round and round of sixteen matches will now have to wait until the beginning of next year to buy the few individual tickets which remain for these games. You can be sure however, that demand will far outstrip supply!
Reservations for the nine other games (the Opener, the quarter-finals, semi-finals, third place play-off and Final) will begin in the Autumn of 1997, according to conditions to be divulged on 10 June, at one year from the kick-off in the 16th World Cup. The CFO will also be using this occasion to give a financial breakdown of ticket sales to date.
All-inclusive public relations packages are also available to companies. “FRANCE 98 SELECTIONS” which incorporate the best seats in the stadium with a personalised welcome and catering services, can only be obtained by contacting the Committee directly:
