The French Organising Committee for the 1998 World Cup is founded.

The constitutive general meeting of the French Organising Committee for the World Cup has elected its two presidents : Fernand Sastre, who presided over the French Candidature Committee, and Michel Platini, the ex, and arguably the greatest, French footballer.
