Coach Bora Milutinovioc has to make a quick decision on a replacement goalkeeper for the Nigerian World Cup squad after goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu was ruled out by injury. The players in line to replace Shorunmu, who broke an arm in a Swiss League match last week, are Peter Rufai of Deportivo La Coruna and Abiodun Baruwa, who plays for Swiss club FC Sion. Meanwhile, Ajax Amsterdam stars Sunday Oliseh and Tijjani Babangida will be late linking up with the rest of the Nigerian squad.

Oliseh and Babangida will be in action in the Dutch Cup final against PSV Eindhoven in Rotterdam on Sunday and will link up with the Super Eagles at their Swiss training camp on May 23. Barcelona, though, gave Nigeria a boost when they said striker Emmanuel Amunike will be fit for the World Cup.

Amunike, out of action for several months, was not originally named in Nigeria’s 25-man squad for France ‘98.
