World Cup finalists South Africa were held to a 1-1 draw by German second division side Stuttgarter Kickers in a friendly match here on Saturday afternoon. The Bafana Bafana, who are preparing for their first World Cup finals at a training camp in the Black Forest, looked unconvincing against undistinguished opposition.

South Africa opened the score after 32 minutes thanks to a goal from their captain Lucas Radebe, who plays for English Premier League club Leeds United.

The home side then equalized in the 74th minute through their Croatian forward Tomislav Maric.

Just 13 days ahead of their opening round World Cup match against host nation France, the South Africans looked tired after their long journey to Germany.
