Mexican coach Manuel Lapuente on Wednesday called up midfielder Raul Rodrigo Lara to his preliminary World Cup squad, Mexican television reported.

Lara, who plays his club football for America, has been a mainstay of the Olympic team and recently broke into the senior squad.

Lapuente has brought together 24 players for a pre-World Cup preparation camp but two will be dropped from the final squad.
