FRANCE 98 – Chile – C. Castaneda: “Beating Brazil is not impossible”

Reported from BORDEAUX

Fernando CORNEJO (19)

“To play against BRAZIL (Group A) is not really different from facing ITALY, AUSTRIA or CAMEROON. At this level, we have to respect every team we play. That is why we can now say that CHILE is a great team, who has qualified for the second round thanks to hard work. On a personal level, it makes no difference whether I play in midfield or as a full-back. What matters, is to be on the pitch. All the other substitutes know that they have to be available to the coach and we are ready.”

Cristian CASTANEDA (2)

“Right from the start of the competition, I have felt the pace of our game slow down. Remeber that we gave a lot in the match against ITALY. Against CAMEROON, the important thing was to qualify for the second round. Now, against BRAZIL, the key to the match will be concentration and team-work. They are a team who make it difficult to move, with individuals such as CAFU (2), who I am particularly afraid of. But in my opinion, as a South American, I think it will be the easiest game to win and I assure you that beating BRAZIL is not impossible. To get through this round would be fantastic for CHILE.”
