FRANCE 98 – Match n°1 : BRESIL-ECOSSE (Group A) – The Scottish Team Coach's Impressions

The Scottish team arrived earlier than expected at the Stade de France, and, with the permission of FIFA, held their training session at 14h00 instead of 15h00. Afterwards, the Scottish coach, CRAIG BROWN, together with his assistant ALEX MILLER, gave a press conference in the mixed zone.

He was speaking at the Stade de France on the eve of the match between BRAZIL and SCOTLAND.

What do you think of the Stade de France?

“The Stade de France is superb and the pitch is of a very high quality. The turf is very short, like a golf course, and I believe that BRAZIL as well as my players will have a lot of pleasure playing on it. We have no complaint to make regarding the turf. My players love it already.

How will you play this first match against Brazil?

“The Brazilians are very strong and, what’s more, they are the present champions. They are amongst the favourites and have many talented individuals in the team like RONALDO. But we won’t be doing anything special about him, and don’t think that we have just come here to defend. It will be a difficult match, but this will also be the case for BRAZIL. In any case, I’m an optimist.

Who are your favourites for the title?

“BRAZIL, GERMANY and we should watch out for teams such as NORWAY who have perhaps had the best results during the build-up. SPAIN is also one of my favourites. Spanish football has come a long way in the last few years, as we have been able to see from the results of the club sides in Europe. FRANCE, who will be at home, will have a lot of pressure on them.
