Sybase chosen as Official Software Supplier of the 1998 Football World Cup.

Client/Server Software for World’s Largest Mass-Media Sporting Event with over 37 Billion Television Viewers Worldwide.

Sybase Inc., The Enterprise Client/Server Company TM, has been selected by the 1998 World Cup Organising Committee, the Comité Français d’Organisation de la Coupe du Monde 1998, as the Official Software of the 1998 World Cup. This will be the second World Cup following that of 1994 showcasing Sybase Software, and will include a client/server network architecture supporting over one hundred local area networks linked together by a wide area network.

The 1998 Information Technology System will integrate Sybase client/server software into almost every aspect of managing the World Cup organisation – from accreditation, ticketing, transportation, accommodations, communications to “VIP” protocol for visiting dignitaries and special international and national visitors.

Additional information on the technology and information systems used to support World Cup 1998 will be available at a press announcement hosted by Sybase and the World Cup Organising Committee in early 1996.
