World Cup FRANCE 98 – Press Releases
25 March 1996
Crédit Agricole, the Official Bank of the 1998 World Cup.
The French Organizing Committee and the Crédit Agricole announced today an agreement whereby France’s leading bank becomes the Official Bank of the 1998 World Cup and the ticketing distributor for the general public.
Since 1989, the Crédit Agricole backed France’s candidature to organize the World Cup, the largest event of the end of the century, around the most popular sport in France and in the World.
This partnership is a logical continuation of Crédit Agricole’s long-standing commitment to amateur football. In association with the French Football Federation and the regional banks of the Crédit Agricole, they have been organizing the Challenge de l’Offensive which has mobilised, every year around the FFF, over a million registered players.
As Official Bank of the 1998 World Cup, Crédit Agricole is also offering its decentralised group structure and nation-wide branch network as a service to the French people to facilitate access to ticket sales. Information and reservations will be available in all branches in all the French regions as of November 1996.
The agreement further illustrates the principles behind Crédit Agricole’s policy of active support to local community and development, and the slogan “Making the heart of the regions beat in time with World Cup” will accompany all marketing and communication campaign undertakings right through to 1998.
