FRANCE 98 – No railings in Toulouse Stadium for England-Romania match
No railings in Toulouse Stadium for England-Romania match 20.06.98 14h15 CET The Prefect of the Midi-Pyrenées region, Monsieur Alain BIDOU, has made the following decision:
“After consulting local CFO representatives and the Mayor of TOULOUSE and getting the opinion of British experts in the World Cup venue itself, it has been decided that the ‘removable’ railings separating the stands and the pitch of the Stadium will not be installed for the match which is to take place on Monday 22nd June between ENGLAND and ROMANIA (Group G).
The existing security measures for this particular World Cup match, both within the Stadium itself and in the surrounding areas, do not make this precaution necessary.”
