“We trained this morning – and although Gareth SOUTHGATE’s fitness (6) is only at 60%, Alan SHEARER (9), Teddy SHERINGHAM (10) and Tony ADAMS (5) are all 100%. I can understand David BECKHAM’s attitude (7); he is disappointed at not playing, that’s normal. There is no problem in the relationship between us. The next match, against ROMANIA, is very important. The Romanians are among the best in Europe, twelve of them have already participated in European Cups with their clubs. Also, they have HAGI (10) playing with them, who is capable of turning a match at any moment. Our last four confrontations with ROMANIA resulted in draws. I hope we will play better in TOULOUSE on Monday.”
