“We’re in very good physical condition, and we’re going to play NIGERIA in top form. The shake-up we experienced in match n. 7 against PARAGUAY (12 June, 0-0) won’t happen again because we will be more focused.”

Responding to criticism of his role as captain, he said: “The captain is elected by the players, and the technical staff does not have a say in the decision. We discuss things as a team, and the atmosphere is good.”

Ilian ILIEV (11), injured in the knee during the match against PARAGUAY, reassured his team mates. “I’ve regained my full potential, and am at my coach’s bidding if he wants me to play in the next match against NIGERIA.”
