FRANCE 98 – Bulgaria – H. Bonev: “I discovered a few weaknesses in Nigeria's play that we can exploit”

“The NIGERIA team is naturally gifted. However, I discovered a few weaknesses that we can exploit during our 19 June match (no. 23) at Parc des Princes in PARIS. In the defence and especially in the flanks, their attacking spirit leaves room for us to make our move. I am not going to make the same mistake that SPAIN did when they lost 3-2 (match no. 10). They didn’t cover the midfield, and we saw where that got them. To win, we need to be disciplined. We need to concentrate, and each player needs to give it his all out there on the pitch. To bolster ourselves psychologically, we need to maximise our opportunities at the goal and not repeat the same mistakes that we made in the second half of the match against PARAGUAY (match no. 7) at Mosson (MONTPELLIER).”

At the end of the press conference, the vice-president of the Bulgarian federation, Mr. Kassabov, requested that his team have only closed training sessions until the evening of Thursday 18 June, when a press conference will be given following the training at Parc des Princes.
