Bulgaria’s veteran striker Hristo Stoichkov, set to leave CSKA Sofia for Japan in the summer, clashed with a journalist from sports daily “Meridian Match”  on Monday after a row over an article the reporter had written.

The temperamental Stoichkov charged after reporter Vassil Kolev and gave him a dressing down.

Meanwhile Eintracht Frankfurt defender Petar Hubchev turned down an invitation from Bulgarian coach Hristo Bonev to join the World Cup squad saying he was not fit. And Bonev will also have to do without Neftochimik Bourgas midfielder Ilia Grouev, who is under a cloud after being accused of doping last month.
