FRANCE 98  – The Star and the Rookie

Born on 22 September 1976, Ronaldo Luiz Nazario de Lima, who is a little over 21, is generally considered to be the best player in the world at the moment.

For the most part, his playing career has been in Europe, with PSV Eindhoven from 1994 to 1996, Barcelona from 1996 to 1997, and this season with Inter Milan. Ronaldo was part of the Brazilian squad during the 1994 World Cup but didn’t play.

Since then he has become an essential part of the world champions’ armoury, helping them to win the Copa America and more recently the Confederation Cup. He has also just been named the world’s best player by FIFA.
