“I have no names to give you concerning the team to play GERMANY. What I will say is that we’ll have to be very quick and counter-attack to catch out the German defence which is perfectly organised. We’ll also have to fully exploit all the set pieces. On this German side, there are no weak players. Physically, they are all very impressive. The danger will no doubt come from Oliver BIERHOFF (20) and Jurgen KLINSMANN (18) but also Andreas MOLLER (7), in a more backfield position. This is an all round team and they have some very experienced players in every position. Personally, I’m fully fit, everyone is ready for the impact and the atmosphere is excellent between us all “.

Everyone knows the German team is the favourite for the World Cup. For us, we are always better against a team that is supposedly better than we are. We know them very well. I’ve played two games against Christian WORNS (2) and I know that he has a lot of talent and plays fairly. It’ll be a real battle against GERMANY but we’ll do our best. I’m very fit and none of the players frighten me. I know our team has a lot of skill and that the most important thing is to have a good match. We’re expecting a difficult match, but we’re hopeful. Our aim is get to the second round of this World Cup. Technically speaking, I can’t say a lot, my coach knows more about that. I’m used to playing with Jens JEREMIES (13) and I think that Dietmar HAMANN (16) will be in the team. Jens JEREMIES is an excellent defender, but I don’t fear him; the Germans are perhaps more frightened than we are about this match.”
