Berti VOGTS
In his 7 years at the head of the “Mannschaft”, Berti Vogts has had a somewhat chequered career: although his German side did win Euro 96, it was only after being knocked out of the 1994 World Cup quarter-finals, and losing in the Euro 92 final. Vogts, a former Mönchengladbach star (5 times German Champion, 2 UEFA wins), and a member of the winning 1974 World Cup team (96 caps for Germany), coached the youth and Under 20 teams before joining Franz Beckenbauer at the head of the national side in 1990, the year Germany won its third world title.
