The FRANCE 98 mascot is born

With just over two years to go till the 16th World Cup finals kick off, FRANCE 98 has unveiled its official Mascot which, along with the logo and the slogan “The beauty of a world at play”, form the kingpins of the FRANCE 98 image.

The Mascot is a rooster, a “real life” character symbolically linking the popular emblem of France, with football and the joy of living, and who will be the emissary of FRANCE 98 the world over.

All that remains is to find a name for the new character. The whole French population will be invited to suggest a name as part of a national competition to be organised by FRANCE 98. The winning name will be announced at the end of 1996.
