FRANCE 98 – Scotland – C. Brown: “We're not afraid of Morocco”

Craig BROWN, coach for SCOTLAND (Group A).

Until now, we haven’t been lucky, but on Tuesday 23 June in the stade Geoffroy-Guichard in SAINT-ETIENNE, we’re going to make sure we score against MOROCCO (Group A). The players know that they’ve had a few good matches and that they’ve got even better. We’re not afraid of MOROCCO and we’ve got a lot of respect for the team. Their counter attack is very efficient and they play a fast paced game. Our qualification also depends on the BRAZIL-NORWAY match being played at the same time in MARSEILLE. The Brazilian team has 22 excellent players, but we mustn’t forget that during a friendly match the Norwegians beat them 4-2. We’ve got two injured players in our team, Colin CALDERWOOD (4) with a broken right wrist and Billy MC KINLAY (17), who has stomach-ache and has to go back to SCOTLAND on Monday evening. This is a great loss but nevertheless won’t prevent us from playing a good game on Tuesday 23 June.”
