A new idea from La Poste: a postmark for each match

Stamp collectors will be particularly interested to know that, for each of the ten World Cup venues, LA POSTE (the French Post Office) is issuing an official postmark on each match day. The postmark showing the date, the name of the stadium and the match details are printed around an image of the Earth with a satellite football in orbit. For example, on Tuesday 23 June the city of SAINT-DENIS and its Stade de France will be staging match n° 33: ITALY-AUSTRIA (Group B) and will therefore be appearing in the postmark. The idea was thought up by the SNTP (the national postage stamp service) and each postmark is available on request from the head office of LA POSTE for a period of eight weeks.
