Bulgaria training session interrupted

Benefiting from their day of freedom, Sunday June 14, a number of BULGARIA (Group D) players such as ZDRAVKOV (1), ZAFIROV (15), BALAKOV (10) and YANKOV (6) went to visit PARIS by bus, from 11h30 to 16h30. However, on the morning of Monday, June 15, serious work began again. Disappointed by their goal-less draw against PARAGUAY (0-0), BULGARIA revealed during the training session that their spirits were still high. The rain upset their plans though.

Dressed in black overcoats, the Bulgarians trained for half an hour at the stade municipal in Bondoufle, south of PARIS against a backdrop of cheering primary school children waiting for autographs behind the fences. On the pitch, after a pep-talk from their coach, Hristo BONEV, Hristo STOICHKOV (8) set the pace during the warm-up, at the head of an impeccable Indian file. Nevertheless, the rain soon put in an appearance. The down-pour washed away any chance of finishing the session. The Bulgarians had a second training session on the evening of the same day.
