The Musée de la Poste during the World Cup

Until 18 July, LA POSTE, the official mail carrier of the World Cup, will host an exhibition called “PHILFOOT FRANCE 98” at the Musée de LA POSTE. The football-oriented stamp show has four main themes: football and the Olympic Games, World Cups, historic footballers, and football moves. This original display will bring together 32 of the world’s most beautiful stamp collections.

The “PHILFOOT FRANCE 98” exhibition features a “Cour d’Honneur” that includes the collections of HRH Prince Rainier III of Monaco, those of the Musée Olympique in Lausanne, and those of the Musée de LA POSTE in PARIS. It also includes the jersey and cuttings of Didier DESCHAMPS (7), midfielder for the FRANCE team. Along with the 32 private collections, the “BAR DES SUPPORTERS” room in the basement will display the collections of the ten “PHILFOOT JEUNES” winners. This competition was organised for young people under 21 in the ten World Cup host cities. There will also be unique football documents and various objects such as balls and games on loan from FIFA, the French Football Federation (FFF) and private collectors available for viewing.

This exhibition was organised by LA POSTE, the French Organising Committee (CFO), the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie Olympique (FIPO), the Association Françise des Collectionneurs Olympiques et Sportifs (AFCOS) and the French Football Federation (FFF). It is one of the first of its kind. More than 60,000 stamps from 25 countries including China, Slovakia, Egypt, and the six World Cup winners (Uruguay, BRAZIL, ARGENTINA, ENGLAND, ITALY and GERMANY) tell the story of the final round.

On 27 June, the collectors and the ten winners of the “PHILFOOT JEUNES”, who made this event possible, will take a tour ending at Parc des Princes at 21h00, where they will attend a round of sixteen match.

Additionally, all the stamps and postal products created by LA POSTE for FRANCE 98 are on sale at the Musée de LA POSTE. It is also possible to get a special postmark of the 64 games every day throughout the duration of the exposition.
