Security measures reinforced in Paris
The Minister of the Interior, M. Jean-Pierre CHEVENEMENT, has announced that security measures, transportation, first aid, and public information services, will be reinforced during the World Cup. Carrying and drinking alcoholic beverages on public streets and in proximity to giant screens will be banned during match days. The Ministry of the Interior will also step up its surveillance of busy areas inside the capital, including, of course, the Champs Elysées. These measures will continue to be enforced during all of the festivals taking place during this time, and rules will return to normal on 13 June, after the last music festival closes the World Cup.
