The referees for the semi-finals

On the evening of Sunday 5 July, FIFA announced the names of the referees and assistantsfor the semi-finals.

For BRAZIL – NETHERLANDS (match no. 61), on Tuesday 7 July at the Stade Vélodrome in MARSEILLE at 21h00.

  • Referee: Ali Mohamed BUJSAIM – Born in 1959, he is an immigration department official in Dubai and comes from the United Arab Emirates. He is married with three children.
  • Assistant referees :
    • Hussein GHADANFARI – Born in 1957, he is a telecommunications consultant, and lives in Kuwait.
    • Mohamed Ahmed AL MUSAWI – Born in 1959, he works for the state of Aman. His favourite memory is of the FIFA/Confederations Cup Final in 1997 when BRAZIL played AUSTRALIA.
  • 4th referee : Abdul Rahman AL ZEID – Born in 1959 in Riyadh, he is a teacher and the father of seven children. His hobbies, apart from football, are hunting and swimming.

For FRANCE – CROATIA (match no. 62), Wednesday 8 July at the Stade de France in SAINT-DENIS at 21h00.

  • Referee : José-Manuel GARCIA ARANDA – Born in 1956, he is a P.E. teacher in Madrid and the father of two. He acted as referee during the Atlanta Olympic games.
  • Assistant referees :
    • Fernando TRESACO GRACIA – Born in 1955 in Spain, he is a teacher and lives in Huesca.
    • Jorge Alberto DIAZ GALVEZ – Born in 1958 in Chile, he is a computer monitor.
  • 4th referee : Epifanio GONZALEZ CHAVEZ – Born in 1958 in Paraguay, he is a shopwoner, and is married with three children. He likes fishing and volleyball.
