“Tonight we’ve been rewarded for several years work. It’s incredible. We’ll played the perfect game. We beat BRAZIL 3-0!!!. We finished with ten men which made it a little difficult. We’re World Champions. It sounds so strange to say that.”

Franck LEBOEUF (18):

My family are in large part responsible for my presence on the field tonight and the part I played in our victory. I’m the happiest man alive. I’ve got the rest of my life to reflect on what we’ve achieved . We played like Trojans this evening. It wasn’t easy for me to come in for Lolo (BLANC – 5). A lot of people were worried about how I would do. I spoke a great deal with Laurent before the game and he gave me all the advice he could, notably about RONALDO (9), with whom he played at Barcelona. God chose me to play in the Final for which I thank him. He also chose FRANCE to win the tournament. It’s marvellous to play in front of 60 million fans. Everybody has their destiny mapped out for them and mine just happens to be a marvellous one.”

Christophe DUGARRY (21):

What can I say? We’re the World Champs!!! None of us can quite believe it. We had a few scares but the match went off as well as possible. The French team is very solid and has great team spirit. We’ve all got very different abilities. Aimé JACQUET managed to get 200% out of each of us. He’s the man responsible for us winning today. We owe him everything. For me it was a strange but ultimately wonderful World Cup.”
