Brazil – M. Zagallo: “Taffarel will undoubtedly have a lot of work to do” 06.07.98 22h18 CET Comments made at the Stade Bon Rencontre in Toulon (Var)
Mario ZAGALLO, national team coach:
“For the first time in a World Cup, BRAZIL will perhaps not have more possession of the ball than their opponents, so when we have the ball, we’ll have to use it well. Against the Dutch, our defenders will have to concentrate on individual marking. TAFFAREL (1) will undoubtedly have a lot of work to do. Regarding LEONARDO (18), his legs suffered some slight injuries during the previous matches so understandably he has slowed down his pace.”
Paulo PAIXÁO, trainer:
“Against DENMARK, both sides set a good pace and both teams played regardless of the score. BRAZIL knew how to play its own game and made some excellent counter-attacks. The “séléçao” should set a faster pace against the NETHERLANDS because it’s a semi-final and afterwards there’s the Final. I don’t think the Dutch will take as many risks as DENMARK as it’ll be a more calculated game. There aren’t any particular problems in the team. We’re sure everything will continue as before. We’ll prove this is so, because we’re technically superior and we plan to make it to the final and give the supporters what they want.”
