Toulouse: the Music Festival postponed

The Prefect of the Midi-Pyrénées region, Alain BIDOU, has accepted the suggestion made by the Deputy-Mayor of TOULOUSE to postpone the activities planned for the Music Festival on Sunday 21st of June. The celebrations will instead take place on Saturday 11th of July 1998. This celebration, which is very popular in TOULOUSE, would have coincided with the arrival of English fans on the day before the ENGLAND-ROMANIA match (Group G).

"All those who had planned to take part in the festivities of this important event will understand this decision. Everything possible is being done to make sure the World Cup keeps the festival dimension it should have, but the security of all is our first priority", said Mr BIDOU. The match will not be shown in town on big screens as originally planned and tight security measures will surround the sale all alcoholic drinks.
