Yugoslavia – S. Santrac: “We want to score one goal more than the Netherlands”

Does the fact that Dragan STOJKOVIC(10), Predrag MIJATOVIC (9) and Dejan SAVICEVIC (8) are attending this press conference mean that they will be picked for the match against the NETHERLANDS tomorrow?

“Those three players will definitely make an appearance on the pitch tomorrow. But Miroslav DJUKIC (5) and Darko KOUACAVIC (22) are sure not to play.”

Will Perica OGNJENOVIC (21) be your “secret weapon” and what are his main strengths?

“He might play tomorrow but that will depend on the circumstances of the game. However I refuse to speak of the individual qualities of one particular player because the day before a match the emphasis is on the team as a whole.”

Will your team be on the attack from the very start of the match tomorrow?

“Ever since I’ve been coach, I’ve never been worried; we have exceptional players and when they have possession of the ball, our opponents must be careful. We want to score one goal more than the NETHERLANDS.”

Do you consider Dejan SAVICEVIC’s (8) experience important, as far as tomorrow’s game is concerned?

“No coach in the world would have refused a player like him. When they’re facing quality players, the opposing team must be on their guard. It is easier to develop your tactics when you have players like Vladimir JUGOVIC (7), Predrag MIJATOVIC (9) and Dejan SAVICEVIC (8). Offence is the best defence against a team like the NETHERLANDS, where most of the players are – or have been – members of ‘Ajax’ (Amsterdam).”
