“It’s the most important goal of my life, but I just did my job. Everyone in this team is capable of scoring, and next time it will be someone else. I’ve had a good season and I’m happy that I’m still playing well in the World Cup. With the NETHERLANDS team, I can play like I do at Juventus (Turin) and I’m gaining experience. I have no preference between ENGLAND and ARGENTINA; I just want us to win against whichever team is better.”

Dennis BERGKAMP (8):

“It was a very difficult game but we deserved to win because we dominated. As for the incident at the beginning of the second half, I certainly didn’t deserve to be booked. It’s true that I ran into Sinisa MIHAJLOVIC (11), but that was an accident. The two of us have had clashes in the past. We’ve already made up.”

Jaap STAM (3):

“We scored our second goal at exactly the right moment, in stoppage time. As for our next game, we really don’t mind if its against ENGLAND or ARGENTINA. The referee made a bad decision in blowing us up for the penalty because I just played the ball.”

Marc OVERMARS (14):

“If we have to play against ENGLAND, it’ll be very hard because they are difficult opponents when they are on form. Even if ARGENTINA are very strong, I would still prefer to play them because I really wouldn’t enjoy playing against some of my Arsenal teammates.”
