FRANCE 98 – Communique Template

As telephone reservations close on the seventh day of sales, all tickets for games featuring Brazil, England, Germany, Japan, Scotland and the United States have been snapped up.

14,000 tickets were sold on Tuesday 28 April, making a total of 115,000 tickets sold since reservations opened on 22 April 1998.

55,000 tickets are therefore still up for grabs by telephone for all residents of the 18 countries within the European Economic Space, for first round matches (except the Opener), and round of sixteen games.

5 more games among the 55 that were on offer are now sold out. These are :

  • , Monday 15 June at 2.30 pm, at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille

  • Nigeria/Bulgaria (n°23),
  • Friday 19 June at 5.30 pm, at the Parc des Princes in Paris

  • Scotland/Morocco (n°34),
  • Tuesday 23 June at 9 pm, at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard in Saint-Etienne

  • Japan/Jamaica (n°47),
  • Friday 26 June at 4 pm, at the Stade Gerland in Lyon

  • Round of Sixteen game 1H/2G (n°55),
  • Tuesday 30 June, at 9 pm at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard in Saint-Etienne

Today, 4 million calls from within France and 1 million from abroad were clocked up on France Telecom’s network.

The FRANCE 98 telephone platform, which closed tonight at 8 pm, will be open again tomorrow, Wednesday 29 April, from 8 am to 8 pm. It will likewise be open at the same times the following days for the sale of the 55,000 remaining tickets.

A reminder: reservations for these tickets may be made exclusively by telephone and only on the numbers indicated below on a “first come first served” basis, with a limit of 4 tickets per person per match, and an overall limit of 16 tickets per person:

Payment for tickets ordered may be made by international bank card or, failing this, by certified bank cheque (made out in French francs and which must be received by the French Organising Committee within 7 days of placing the order). The use of a card (card number) or bank account is limited to a single order.
