PUTTING ON A SHOW
No-one is in any doubt that FRANCE 98 will be the single most important media event at the end of this century. For just over a month, France and the ten World Cup stadiums will become the biggest open-air theatre in the world, and one to which the eyes of 37 billion television viewers – in terms of cumulative audiences for all the broadcasts – will be glued! One of the chief tasks of the French Organising Committee, as stage director of the whole event, will be to provide 9,500 media representatives with top-quality facilities and state-of-the-art technology, all made possible through the brilliant skills of our Partners. But we always bear in mind that the principal actors in the coming World Cup will be the players themselves, who will be writing the script as they go along. And with the support and enthusiasm of 2.5 million spectators, they will all be contributing equally towards making FRANCE 98 an unforgettable moment of sport and celebration.
