“98 Radio France” at the heart of the event
Radio France, France’s leading radio station and a French Organising Committee (CFO) partner, has created a station wholly dedicated to the World Cup. This initiative represents a first in World Cup history. “98 Radio France” will be on the air for French and foreign listeners as of Tuesday 9 June from 08 h 30 until 01 h 00 in the morning on long wave (1 852 m).
It will be putting out information about the competition, including broadcasts of the 64 matches and commentaries from the Parisian news team of “98 Radio France”, assisted by a group of fifteen journalists from local radio stations. Other radio programmes will offer practical information about the ten venues of the World Cup, in German and Portuguese at 12 h 05 (ticket information, accommodation, traffic, weather, entertainment), via local radio stations and with contributions from the French radio stations France Inter, France Info, France Culture, France Musique, Radio Bleue, FIP, Le Mouv’ and the CFO. “98 Radio France”, right at the heart of the event, will be broadcasting from each of the venues.
Programmes going out in English, German, Spanish and Italian will enable spectators and foreign tourists to get an inside look at the festivities.
Every day at 11 h 30, a wide range of personalities will celebrate the “beautiful game” in their own way during the programmes “Carte blanche” and “Les supporters dans la rue” (“Fans in the Street”) hosted live by Laurence Schirrecker from her HF motorcycle.
The editor, Jacques Vendroux, and the station head, Jean Morzadec, will be officially launching “98 Radio France” on 9 June, the day before FRANCE 98 “kicks off”. And everyone will be able to tune in thanks to the 13,000 radios given to all the accredited media representatives.
