FRANCE 98 – How does the France team prepare for matches ?
The FRANCE (Group C) team began at 16h00 its preparatory training for its no. 38 match against DENMARK on Wednesday 24 June at 16h00 at the Stade Gerland in LYON. The players’ preparations are always closely supervised by the Dr. Jean-Marcel Ferret, who knows all the players very well and works closely with the coach Aimé JACQUET.
At the Centre technique national de Clairefontaine (National Technical Centre), Mr. Ferret met journalists who wanted to know more about a subject often neglected concerning the French. “The diet – said Mr. Ferret – is very important for the players: the most important meals before a match are dinners the night before and breakfasts of the same day. At breakfast we have typical French fare with hot drinks (chocolate, coffee and tea), and fruit salad and yoghurt. When there is an afternoon training session, we have a lighter lunch. Usually, we eat a variety of raw and cooked vegetables, fish, yoghurt and white cheese. We also offer some deserts: the players love tarts.” The FRANCE team doctor has reiterated that alcohol is forbidden, but coffee is allowed.
