“Colours of the World”: YVES SAINT LAURENT on the Stade de France pitch

300 models, led by 30 top names (including Laetitia Casta, Alek Wek, Carla Bruni, Inés Rivero and Katoucha) will be kicking off the evening of festivities taking place on Sunday 12 July at 19h30 on the Stade de France pitch for the 16th World Cup Final between FRANCE and BRAZIL.

The French Organising Committee wanted to open this exceptional evening of excitement and celebration with a one-off show entitled “The Colours of the World” produced by YVES SAINT LAURENT, Official Sponsor of France 98. An audience of 80,000 in the stadium, along with close to 2 billion television spectators, will be following the event.

“The Colours of the World” is a magical and exceptional event. Staged on a sky-blue field, it will be taking a look at 40 years of YVES SAINT LAURENT creations. A tribute to women and beauty in the unheard of setting of a football stadium!

Everything will begin on a rhythmical note at precisely 19h35. 100 percussionists from the “Metalovoice” band, posted around the field, will play a roll on their red metal drums. 300 models then enter the stage to the accompaniment of Ravel’s Bolero, dressed in 300 of the couturier’s greatest creations taken from the YVES SAINT LAURENT Museum especially for the event. The models – who come from the four corners of the world – will then perform a veritable ballet of graceful gestures and geometric lines on the pitch of the Stade de France. A truly universal event, when all borders will cease to exist, and which will enchant viewers for 15 unforgettable minutes.

Created and directed by Olivier Massart (also responsible for the festivities commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower), “The Colours of the World” will be based around 6 themes: Pop Art, Oriental, Exotic, Classical, and two themes concerning the Arts.

Philippe Lallemant is directing the televisual side. The event involves impressive logistics, including no less than 900 people in the wings and on the stage: 300 models, 100 musicians, 130 dressers, 70 hair stylists, 70 make-up artists, and 200 technicians. And let’s not forget the 300 pairs of original platform shoes especially designed so that they won’t damage the pitch!
